Windy Ridge Riders in the Community:

Summer/Fall 2015

Windy Ridge Riders is a strong believer in the power of the horse. Unfortunately, not everyone has access readily available, so the club does its part to ensure access to the community through some of its charitable partnerships. 

Mount View Special Riding Association out of Olds, Alberta was in need of another cart for their wheel chair clients.  These special need clients are unable to ride a horse but still benefit from the contact and interaction with horses.  Mount View Special Riding is run completely by volunteers providing both therapeutic and recreational riding for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities.  They approached Windy Ridge Riders about their need for another cart and the club agreed to cover the cost of material for the cart, with club member Gary Piper donating his time and skills to build it.  Gary also donates his time and use of his 2 Fjord horses for both pulling the cart and riding.
